Living is ultimately about being involved with other people. Building relationships with other people is like creating "proof" that you existed and I think that the termination of those relationships is what death is.

—Makiharu Hiizumi, Chapter 8

Makiharu Hiizumi (比泉 槇春, Hiizumi Makiharu) is the grandfather of Akina Hiizumi.

Personality[]

Makiharu is a kind and wise man with a reflected conduct where he reflects about the impact his acts might have and doesn't act before thinking. He gives focus and great importance to human or youkai relationships, and he believed that "tuning" them is the same as killing them, because it cuts contact from others indefinitely. He tries to pass the legacy of his wisdom and knowledge to Akina Hiizumi, and was capable of self-sacrificing himself for the safety of others, in a sad Hiizumi family traditional ritual.
